Battle of Wounded Knee

The wounded knee saga from Racquetball continues.  I was a really well behaved boy this week, staying of my feet as much as possible.  The 2 times I went out and walked around I paid the price.

We had friends moving on Thursday night and another friend’s daughter had a wedding reception on Friday night.

It’s not like I can’t get around, but once I get back on my feet, my knee makes all kinds of fussing noises when I go to get up again.  It just wants to hyper-extend all the time now.

It’s actually the heel of my left foot that’s in the most pain at the moment. I guess I’m overcompensating for the knee. I went through this when I stress fractured my right heel playing football on Thanksgiving Day 10 years ago.

Pain seemed to move around from one foot to the other, one knee to the other and one leg to the other as I overcompensated for the overcompensations. Iti sucked.

That took forever to rehab from. It was almost 2 years before I was pain free on that one.

What a spazz I must be.

I’ll spend time this week in the pool and slowly start working it back into shape.  To say I’m frustrated would be an understatement.

We have so much going on at the moment, I just don’t have time to be a gimp.  My goal is just to get to the point where I can start back up on P90x by Sept. 1st.  I’ll keep all of you posted on how it’s coming.

Tim… you’ve got to get that Knee checked out. Call your orthopedist!

On your foot… Does it feel almost like it’s bruised, under the heel, and is it worst/stiffest in the a.m.? It could be a condition called plantar fasciitis – I have that and actually have my foot on ice (a routine therapy) as I type this.

[...] knees are in much better shape that they were a year ago.  I had a little blip with my left knee a couple months back, but it’s better [...]

I currently have a soccer related injury in which some IDIOT slid on me from the left side and a little behind, and slid up my left leg from my ankle up to my knee on his crotch, while my left foot was planted. I felt the knee buckle inside and stretch the skin. I stayed down and my friends called an ambulance while the idiot who did the damage hid his head in shame.

I got an MRI and the scoped the knee, and the ACL is ok, but the MCL is a little torn (much better after 9 weeks though), and there is a little click in the back-inside of my when I bend it. I’m much more mobile now, but when I try to jog a little, my knee feels like it wants to hyper-extend.

Question: Does your knee still feel like is wants to hyper-extend.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your comment. My knee feels much better now and the sensation that it will buckle at any moment has gone away. It still doesn’t feel as strong as it did prior to my racquetball incident, but I can tell that it is getting stronger. Just take your time with the rehab and don’t go too fast. Patience will help you in the long run.
